The greatness of God

Isaiah 40:12-31

Some people think God is a force somewhere in the cosmos, while others picture a benevolent grandfather type who overlooks “little” sins. But these characteristics do not fully capture who Jehovah is. The real God might surprise you. As the Father reveals Himself in His Word, it’s clear He is a person. Throughout Scripture, He is named (Yahweh, Elohim, Lord) or spoken of using masculine pronouns (He, Him); “it” is never used to describe Him. He fits all of the attributes of personhood – intelligence to reason, emotions to feel, and the will to make decisions. At the same time, Scripture also shows God’s immutability, which means His nature and character never shift – He is always Spirit, and His love remains constant. Believers can expect that God’s principles and laws will hold true and He’ll act exactly as He has promised. While He responds differently to various situations, those responses (like delight, anger, and mercy) are nuances of His being, not new traits. God has no beginning or end, and He is always the same (Psalm 102:27). No one created Him; God simply is. That’s hard for humans to understand, but if the Lord were completely explainable (Isaiah 40:28), He would be unworthy of worship.

God’s Artistry

Revisiting some of my favorites from October 2017, when I had of fun taking photos after a rainy day.  During this time I had computer software that could only make basic adjustments. I could change a photo to monochrome, crop, and I was astonished that I could add text to images, only because I had been searching for this capability and for a while was not able to find it.  Capturing the beads of water in these was so exciting to me, because they are so beautiful.  Enjoy!

Shadowfeet, by Brook Fraser

Great song. Be encouraged!

Lyrics
Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet
toward home, a land that I’ve never seen
I am changing: less and less asleep
made of different stuff than when i began
and i have sensed it all along
fast approaching is the day
when the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
when the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
when time and space are through
I’ll be found in you
Theres distraction buzzing in my head
saying in the shadows it’s easier to stay
but I’ve heard rumors of true reality
whispers of a well-lit way
when the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
when the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees
when time and space are through
I’ll be found in you
You make all things new
When the world has fallen out from under me
I’ll be found in you, still standing
Every fear and accusation under my feet
when time and space are through
I’ll be found in you
