Rest

As you are

Jesus didn’t wait until we deserved Him-He knew that we never could.  Instead, He gave Himself freely for all mankind and extended an invitation for every sinner, just as he or she is, to come to Him and find rest.  We are all unworthy of salvation.

Many people think they should wait to accept Christ’s offer of salvation until after they have improved themselves in some way.  But that is actually the exact opposite of the gospel’s message.

Jesus didn’t say, “Go clean yourself up, then come to Me,” did He?  Rather, He opened His arms and said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

True Rest

The Lord is my shepherd;

there is nothing I lack.

He lets me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside quiet waters.

He renews my life;

He leads me along the right paths

for His name’s sake.

Psalm 23:1-3

“If you want rest, O weary souls, ye can find it nowhere until ye come and lay your burdens down at His dear pierced feet.”  Charles Spurgeon

We will not find true rest in anything or anyone else in this world.  Period.

Bliss

In taking the Developing Your Eye course that WordPress offers, I am looking for new techniques or tips that I can learn, since I’m still learning about photography.  The assignment for today is Bliss.  I can say that the bliss that I have in life is based on the joy and peace that Jesus gives.  I couldn’t quite figure out how to capture that in a photo 🙂  So, the other subject I thought about was how peaceful babies and pets look when they sleep deeply, peacefully.  I actually don’t have a baby that lives here with me, so I wasn’t going to get that particular shot, but I do have pets.  This is Muffin, sleeping soundly.  I think this is the most prized part of each day for Muffin and also for my two dogs.  The fact that they can sleep so soundly, as active as they all are, amazes me.  I’m sure it is bliss!
